Hideyoshi 秀よし

Established in 1689, Hideyoshi is one of the oldest sake breweries in Akita, and the current owner is the nineteenth generation of owners. It is not surprising, however, that Hideyoshi’s history has continued without interruption for such a long time as every successive owner has sought innovation to stay a generation ahead while maintaining their own tradition and philosophy.

Hideyoshi upholds the original concept of “jizake” (local sake) and feels truly rewarded when their sake is enjoyed by local people. It is their credo to give back to the local community through what they are good at – making locally appreciated sake. The name “Hideyoshi” has two meanings; it is the name of the great Shōgun, Hideyoshi Toyotomi, in the 16th century, and also means “excellence and superiority”.

We currently sell Hideyoshi’s Namacho, Amakarapin and Aki no Ta.
